Digital Games: Growing the Video Games Industry in NYC
NYC’s commitment to making New York City a global gaming hub.
“New York City has a growing digital games industry and a world-class creative sector to cultivate inspiration, talent, and expertise. NYCEDC, together with the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), develops local events and supports game developers to build and grow their digital game studios.”- NYCEDC
At the heart of the NYC's gaming push is a brand new initiative: the Game Design Future Lab (GDFL), the first-of-its-kind game design incubator, launched by NYCEDC in partnership with NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
Cohorts of the GDFL receive the following:
One on one mentorship tailored to each studio's unique needs.
Business workshops and access to industry events covering both industry-specific and foundational topics
Investor outreach to connect studios with funding opportunities.
Designated office space, resources, and access to maker spaces at NYU Tandon's Brooklyn campus on Jay Street.
